James Robert Lansford, 59, of Crossville, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville.
He was born Feb. 22, 1957, in Chattanooga, TN, son of the late Edwin Gaines Lansford Sr. and Sue Ann (Kemmer) Lansford.
Jim worked as a registered nurse and was of the Methodist faith. Jim grew up on Signal Mountain, TN, and moved to Crossville his senior year of high school, graduating from Cumberland County High School. He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he majored in chemical engineering. He worked in quality control for Crossville Rubber for many years.
In 1996, Jim decided to change careers and pursue his long-time interest in healthcare. He earned his LPN certificate from Crossville Area Voc. Tech. in 1997, and his Associate of Science in Nursing from Roane State Community College in 2014. He was certified in several life support specialties by the American Heart Association.
Jim was an outdoorsman who loved hiking, camping, fishing and outdoor concerts. He was a funny, kind and compassionate man who loved animals, his friends, his family and his country. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
He is survived by his beloved cat, Precious; brothers, Edwin "Gaines" Lansford Jr., Crossville, and Frederick "Scott" Lansford, Ozone, TN; and sisters, Virginia Nan Snider, New York, NY, and Sue Ann Jones, Germantown, TN. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edwin Gaines Lansford Sr. and mother, Sue Ann (Kemmer) Lansford.
Visitation will be will held on Friday, Aug. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bilbrey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Louis F. Davis officiating. Interment in Crossville City Cemetery.
