James C. Lanier, 67, passed away on March 30, 2017, after a long illness at the Signature Health Care Facility in Algood, TN.
A native of Joliet, IL, he was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary, of Joliet and is survived by his brother, Bob, of Danville, CA; his beloved aunt, Eleanor, of Plainfield, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
After a 30-year career with Caterpillar Tractor Inc., he retired to Tennessee and made his home in the Crossville area. Jim was a loyal and generous friend, a tender and sensitive soul who touched all who knew him in a special way. He was a lifelong and loyal Chicago Cub fan and lived to see his beloved "Cubbies" win the 2016 World Series. He now passes on to a better place; our world will be a little less innocent without him in it.
After a private service, internment will be in the Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery, Joliet.
Arrangements entrusted to Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
