James Edward Lamb, 70, of Fairfield Glade, TN, passed away Aug. 10, 2016, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN. Jim was born on June 27, 1946, in Galion, OH, the son of Dale and Mildred (Dorner) Lamb. He excelled in football and tennis and graduated from Galion High School in 1964. He married Jenny Ernst in 1965.
Jim was an extremely hard worker and had a knack for fixing almost anything. He spent 15 years with Chrysler in Perrysburg, OH, and in 1982 moved his family to Charlotte, MI, where he worked in skilled trades for General Motors until he retired in 2007. He was a member of Charlotte County Club and converted to Catholicism at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
In 2010, Jim and Jenny moved to Fairfield Glade, TN, and quickly made many new friends. Jim loved hiking in the mountains and golfing, and he enjoyed learning about the history of his new state. He enjoyed sports and felt it was important to stay physically fit. Jim was an avid fan of both Ohio State and Michigan State sports teams.
Affectionately known as "Pop" to his six grandchildren, he made it a point to see them participate in sports and school events as often as possible. He always was quick with a joke and loved to tell stories.
Jim is survived by Jenny and their two children, Jill Kollars (husband, Brian), Dayton, OH, and Jeff Lamb (wife, Anne), Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Nicole, Jacob and Grace Kollars and Claudia, Connor and Carson Lamb; sisters, Carol Smith (husband, Cal), Columbia, SC, and Marilyn Elmore (husband, Denny), Galion, OH; nephews, Todd, Aaron and Brent Smith and Troy Elmore; and niece, Tara Amos.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and niece Roanne (Smith) Foley.
