Dec. 31, 1930—Feb. 28, 2015 James Billy Herring, 84, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 28, 2015, at Cumberland House. He was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Barnesville, NC, son of the late Thomas Elgitt Herring and Mary Lessie (McKenzie) Herring. James retired from Purity Dairies where he worked as a truck driver delivering milk. He served as a Green Beret and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his son, James Mark Herring of Crossville; daughters, Theresa Mangrum and husband, Anthony, of Murfreesboro, Renee Setters and husband, Boone, of Cincinnati, OH, Tammy Evetts and husband, Ross, of Crossville and Cynthia Dawn Lilly of Crossville; sister, Sarah Inman; and grandchildren, Stephanie, Jason, Bryan, Amanda, Matthew, Ben, Jessica, Joshua, Mark, Jamie and Amber. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Louise Herring, and parents, Thomas Elgitt and Mary Lessie (McKenzie) Herring. He was also preceded in death by 10 brothers & sisters. Memorial services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home March 2, with Bro. Scott Johnson officiating. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
