Dec. 31, 1930—Feb. 28, 2015 James Billy Herring, 84, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 28, 2015, at Cumberland House. He was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Barnesville, NC, the son of the late Thomas Elgitt Herring and Mary Lessie (McKenzie) Herring. James worked as a truck driver, delivering milk. He served as a Green Beret and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his son, James Mark Herring of Crossville; daughters, Theresa Mangrum and husband, Anthony, of Murfreesboro, Renee Setters and husband, Boone, of Cincinnati, OH, and Tammy Evetts and husband, Ross, of Crossville and Cynthia Dawn Lilly, Crossville; sister, Sarah Inman; grandchildren, Stephanie, Jason, Bryan, Amanda, Matthew, Ben, Jessica, Joshua, Mark, Jamie and Amber. James is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Elgitt and Mary Lessie McKenzie Herring, along with 10 brothers and sisters. Memorial services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home March 2, with Bro.
