Nov. 3, 1938—July 13, 2015 James H. Burgess, 76, of Crossville, passed away July 13, 2015. He was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Crossville, the son of Mark and Lucille Walker Burgess. He was retired from TVA as an operator and was a U.S. Army veteran. He also loved to farm and especially taking care of his cattle. The most important part of his life was the close and loving relationship that he and his son, James Mark, shared. He was a kind man who will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his son, James Mark Burgess and his fiancée, Chenoa Meddleton, of Crossville; brother, Floyd Burgess and his wife, Kathleen, of Crossville; sister-in-law, Dortha Burgess Grisham and her husband, Bill, of Crossville; and nephews, Lynn and Chuck Burgess of Crossville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carlos and Buster Burgess; sister, Shirley Burgess; nephew, Marty Burgess; and niece, LeAnn Bilbrey. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 16, from 6-8 p.m. at Hood Funeral Home. Bro. Donnie Bell will officiate, with burial in Davis Cemetery. Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
