Irene Scott Lantry, 89, of Fairfield Glade, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Life Care Center of Crossville.
She was born Oct. 5, 1927, in Detroit, MI, daughter of the late John Kay and Gertrude (McPherson) Kay.
Irene attended Northern High School in Detroit where she was a valedictorian and lettered in girls softball and graduated in January 1944. She married her husband of 71 years, George Lantry, in December 1945.
Her interests were tournament bridge (ACBA National Master), higher education, amateur theater for charities and being a homemaker, and she owned her own business as a tax practitioner.
A resident of Fairfield Glade for 28 years, she enjoyed dancing, golf, bridge and socializing with many friends.
She is survived by her husband George of Fairfield Glade; her children, Bryan of California, Susan of Georgia and Erin of Michigan; and sisters, Jacqueline Balhorn and Linda Marcheeski, both of Michigan. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Irene is greatly missed by family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Michigan. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
