Aug. 15, 1928—Jan. 19, 2016 Hilda Ray Thompson, 87, of Crab Orchard, TN, passed away Jan. 19, 2016. She was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Crab Orchard, daughter of Carl Tilman and Freda Blanch McNeil Scarlett. She was a homemaker and a member of Crab Orchard Church of God of Prophecy. She took great care of her husband, J.D., especially during the last three years of his life. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She also loved working in her flowers. She is survived by her sons, Danny Thompson, Barry Thompson, Terry Thompson and his wife Joan, and Tim Thompson, all of Crab Orchard; daughter, Trudy Gibbons and her husband Jeff of Ozone, TN; sister, Norma Vitatoe of Akron, OH; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Thompson; daughter, Linda Kay Thompson; brothers, E.C. and R.B. Scarlett; sister, Jean Wilson; and grandson, Michael Dale Thompson. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at noon from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Burial was in Haley's Grove Cemetery. Bro. Terry Swaw and Bro. Tony Cathey officiated with special music by Tony Cathey and Janice Norris. Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
