Sept. 23, 1915—Feb. 5, 2015 Gladys Jones Wyatt, 99, passed away Feb. 5, 2015, after a lengthy time at Lake Placid Health Care Center, Lake Placid, FL. She was not suffering from any major disease but her body was just worn out. She was born Sept. 23, 1915, in Cookeville, to Bevy and Bertha Jones. She married Joseph Daniel Wyatt Dec. 25, 1936, and they lived 19 years in Crossville before moving to Ft. Myers, FL, in 1955. She moved to Tallahassee, FL, in 1972, and to Wauchula in 1996. She loved her Lord, her church, family, home and antiques. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years who passed away April 8, 1992; her parents, Bertha and Bevy Jones; three brothers and two sisters. Her father was a farmer, carpenter and a singing evangelist. She learned to sing well before she could read. She worked outside of the home most of her life. She was a seamstress and owned her own fabric store in Crossville; a certified interior decorator for Foxworthy Furniture Co. and Maas Brothers, Ft. Myers; Realtor; and a certified ceramics instructor. She was a life-long learner. Survivors include her two sons, DeWayne Wyatt and wife, Carolyn, of Wauchula, Danny Joe Wyatt and wife, Karen, of Seabrook, TX; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The funeral was at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Crossville, with the Rev. Mark Bass officiating. Burial was at Woody Cemetery beside her husband, Joseph.
