April 7, 1917—Sept. 17, 2015 Gladys Lenora Martin Chadwell was born on April 7, 1917, in Maury County, TN, the 11th child of the late Granville and Frances Sullivan Martin. She passed from this life on Sept. 17, 2015, in Crossville at the age of 98. She worked for several years in the offices of Cumberland Country High School. She was a member of the Homestead Church of Christ. She loved life and was an avid Bible student and a long-time Bible class teacher of both children and ladies. Gladys loved travel, painting, sewing, cooking, gardening and playing scrabble and she excelled in all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Chadwell; son, Milton Ray Chadwell; and siblings, Ida Evaline, Lillie Frances, Raymond Granville, Bessie Mae, Willard Osborne, Curtie B., Hautie Jane, Mary Elizabeth, Erwin Baker and Louis Allen Martin. Gladys is survived by her sons, David (Joyce) of Ft. Smith, AK, and Jack (Connie) of Crossville; grandchildren, Jon (Sheridan) Chadwell of Newport, AK, Kevin (Linda) Chadwell of Chicago, IL, Anita Chadwell Beshirs (Mark) of San Francisco, Kenneth Chadwell (Carol Ann) of Crossville, Lee Ann Chadwell Griffin (Al) of Lebanon, TN, and Erin Beth Chadwell Kerley (David) of Crossville; great-grandchildren, Calli Chadwell Beck, Jordan Chadwell (Elizabeth), Caroline Chadwell, Taylor Chadwell, Seth Chadwell, Aven Chadwell, Logan Griffin, Dylan Griffin (Julia), Abby Griffin Wood (Chase), Joshua Kerley and Lindsey Kerley; and one very special great-great-grandson, Eli Griffin, born on her 97th birthday. She is also survived by her brother, Howard Martin of Nashville, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and her faithful walking and scrabble buddies, Ken and Kim Parmett. Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at 11 a.m. with Bro. David Chadwell and Bro. Jack Chadwell officiating. Interment was in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Pallbearers included Seth Chadwell, Logan Griffin, Dylan Griffin, Joshua Kerley, Kevin Chadwell and Chase Wood.
