June 5, 1942—July 10,2015 George "Ray" Crane, 73, of Fairfield Glade, formerly of Lake Lure, NC, passed away July 10, 2015. He was bom June 5, 1942, in Royston, GA, the son of G.W. Crane and Stella Mae Epps Crane. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lauder Crane; daughter, Lisa Crane Nuss (Rich); granddaughter, Sharon Hamway; great-granddaughter, Makayla Cracco; sisters, Barbara Akers (James) and Bonnie St. Amant (John); and sister-in-law, Becky Crane. He is also survived by nieces, a nephew, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Crane and his brother, James Crane. Ray worked 30 years for Ford Motor Company in Michigan. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling, cooking for family and friends, and became a volunteer firefighter with the Fairfield Mountains Fire Department in North Carolina. A memorial service will be held at Fairfield Glade Community Church, Saturday, Aug. 15, at 2 p.m. (CDT) in Fairfield Glade. Memorials may be sent to the Fairfield Mountains Volunteer Fire Department, 141 S. Buffalo Creek Road, Lake Lure, NC 28746.
