Garry's Story

Text size

Garry Fickey went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 27, 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; brother, Donny; sister, Dee Newsome; children, Leisa, Terry, Randy, Dean, Kim, Mark and Gina; five nephews; three nieces; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Daisy; sisters, Camila Price and Jewel Ashbrook; daughter, Cindy Dickey; and grandson, Randy Fickey Jr.
Garry was born in Rockwood, TN, where he spent his adolescent years. As a young man, he lived in and around the Dayton, OH, area before moving to Indiana.
Garry loved being outdoors in nature, riding his motorcycles, playing touch football in the snow with his children and indulging his inner child by jumping from barn rafters into stacks of hay with his kids.
He enjoyed all night poker games with the men in the family, playing tennis on courts where he and his brother Donny would shovel the snow so they could play, and fishing.
In 1996, Garry and Elaine moved to Crossville, TN. He loved living back in Tennessee where his love of nature was easily fulfilled. In 2012, they uprooted once again to their final destination of Lexington, SC, to be closer to their family.
The family will join together to celebrate Garry's life in Crossville, TN, at a later date when they take his ashes back to the state he called home.
Woodridge Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Lexington, SC, was in charge of the arrangements.
