Frank Elmer Pittman passed away on Sept. 9, 2016, at 87 years old. Frank was born in Mullins, SC, to the late Rev. C.E. Pittman and Minnie McCormick Pittman. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Becky Pittman; two sons, Ed Pittman and Scott Pittman; stepdaughter, Margee Thomas; grandchildren Andrew Pittman, Laura Pittman Vance, Emily Pittman and Kailey Pittman; and step-grandchildren Shelley Thomas, Harold Thomas and Oliver P. Link III. He was preceded in death by his seven siblings; son, Perry Pittman; and stepson, Steve Link.
Frank was a graduate of North Carolina State University and worked as a professional civil engineer in Chattanooga and Connecticut for over 30 years. Frank was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and an avid golfer and bridge player. Frank spent countless hours in his garden and was a member of the Cumberland County Master Gardeners Association. Funny and kind-hearted, Frank brought joy to all those fortunate enough to have him in their life and was always willing to lend a helping hand as a volunteer and handyman to those in need.
Frank will also be missed by his beloved dog, Molly.
A memorial service will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. Visitation will occur in the gathering room of the Church at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland County Animal Shelter or the Pat Summitt Foundation, benefitting Alzheimer's research.
