Ethelene Avo Oakes, 82, of Crossville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at Wyndridge Health & Rehab Center in Crossville.
She was born April 4, 1934, in Livingston, TN, daughter of the late Hardy Vaughn and Avo (Robinson) Vaughn. Ethelene was a homemaker and was a member of the Chestnut Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Brenda (Butch) Pinner of Knoxville, Sandy (Randy) Mitchell of Knoxville and Joan (Mark) Palmer of Lenoir City, Timothy (Beverly) Oakes of Crossville, Reba (Spencer) Pelfrey of Hebbertsburg and Earlene (Charlie) Tallent of Cookeville; sisters, Kay Gareis and Ila Sieloff; and brothers, Lowell Vaughn and Leo Vaughn.
In addition to her parents, Ethelene was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd William Oakes.
Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Donny Humphreys officiating. Interment in Crossville City Cemetery.
