July 3, 1928—Sept. 20, 2015 Emily Kemmer, 87, of Grassy Cove, passed away Sept. 20, 2015. She was born July 3, 1928, Bedford County, TN, the daughter of Roscoe and Nellie Davidson Shofner. She was retired after many years as an extension agent with UT and was also a member of Grassy Cove United Methodist Church. She loved working with the Farm Bureau Women and enjoyed gardening. She is survived by her sons, Jim Kemmer and his wife, Valarie, and Danny Kemmer and his wife, Krista; grandchildren, Seth and Luke Kemmer and Jas and Clint Kemmer; and nephew, Jack Shofner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Kemmer. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Burial was in Grassy Cove Cemetery, with the Rev. Martha Hale and the Rev. Monica Mowdy officiating. Pallbearers were Wendell Wilson, Pitt Kemmer, Jimmy Kemmer, Reggie Rowell, Scott Lansford, Jesse Hardt and Mike Phillips. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Grassy Cove Community House or the Grassy Cove United Methodist Church or cemetery fund. Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
