Nov. 26, 1925—Dec. 19, 2015 Ella Katherine "Kitty" Ryan, 90, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at the Life Care Center Assisted Living of Sparta surrounded by her family. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, with the Rev. Jerry Mayo and the Rev. Drew Shelley officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery. She was born Nov. 26, 1925, in Crossville, TN, to the late George Walter and Effie (Bullard) Hill, the eighth of nine children. In addition to her parents, Kitty was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Ryan; brothers, Cleveland, Lloyd, Buster, Charles, John and Jimmy; and sisters, Genese Goodwin and Zella Stanley. She attended grade school in Crossville and Cumberland County High School where she graduated in 1944. Kitty married Edward Julian Ryan on May 1, 1946, in Crossville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Crossville and was baptized when she was nine years old at Cumberland Mountain Lake at Cumberland Mountain School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. Kitty is survived by her son, Mike (Linda) Ryan of Sparta; daughter, Margaret (Sam) Boney of Crossville; and grandsons, Brent (Rebecca) Ryan of Sparta, Derek (Stephanie) and Matthew (Katie) both of Knoxville. Also two great-grand-daughters survive, Riley Ryan and Kaelyn Miller. She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-laws, Gordon and Samuel (Donna) Ryan, both of Crossville, Ernest (Billie) Ryan of Oak Ridge, and Dorothy Ryan of West Palm Beach, FL. Also, many special nieces and nephews and family members survive. Pallbearers were Brent Ryan, Derek Miller, Matthew Miller, Rick Hill, Tim Farley and Don Farley. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc.
