Aug. 20, 1924—June 11, 2015 Edwin Gaines Lansford Sr., 90, of Crossville, was called home to be with the Lord June 11, 2015, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born Aug. 20, 1924, in Sparta, son of the late Frederick Lansford and Edwina Gaines Lansford. Mr. Lansford proudly served his country, becoming a highly decorated member of the United States Army and veteran of World War II. Once his military service ended, he worked as a CPA and lawyer. Ed was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Crossville and of the Crossville Noon Rotary Club. He is survived by his sons, Edwin Gaines Lansford Jr., James Robert Lansford, both of Crossville, and Frederick Scott Lansford of Ozone; daughters, Virginia Nan Snider of New York City, NY, and Sue Ann Jones of Germantown, TN; and brother, David Lansford, Manchester, TN. He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lansford was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ann Kemmer Lansford, and brothers, Bob and Fred Lansford. Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church of Crossville June 17, with the Rev. Sommer Worley officiating. Interment with full military honors followed in Crossville City Cemetery. Pallbearers included Jim Kemmer, Jimmy Kemmer, John Paul Pennington, Danny Kemmer, Mike Phillips, Pitt Kemmer, Hank Kemmer and Reggie Rowell. Memorial contributions for Mr. Lansford may be made to First United Methodist Church of Crossville or to your own favorite charity. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc.
