Eddie J. Wilbanks, 78, of Crossville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville.
He was born Dec. 4, 1938, in Miami, FL, son of the late Elison H. Wilbanks and Luella (Holmes) Wilbanks.
Eddie joined the U.S. Army at the age of 14 and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He raced stock cars at a young age and also loved fishing, playing poker and a good dessert. Eddie retired after 20 years as the southern transportation supervisor for McKee Baking Company, after beginning with them as a truck driver. He was a loving and caring husband to his wife, Judy, for 41 years and loved his children and grandchildren very much.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Wilbanks, Crossville; children, Lori McKissick, Calhoun, GA, Rory Wilbanks, Apison, TN, Natalie (Tim) Sharp, Aiken, SC, Gary Wilbanks, Ocoee, TN, and Sheri (Brian) Murray, Hong Kong, China; grandchildren, Keith, Caleb, Joseph, Lorynne, Maranda, Matthew, Lindsey, Nathan, Tyler, Cody, Ian, Milana, Helena and Eleanor; and four great-grandchildren.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Elison H. Wilbanks, and mother, Luella (Holmes) Wilbanks.
Memorial services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at 3 p.m. with Obra Carter officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m.
