July 6, 1954—Jan. 12, 2016 Dorothy Carol Proffitt, 61, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 12, 2016. She was born July 6, 1954, in Crossville, the daughter of James and Allene Adams Wright. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time reading. She was also a gifted seamstress who liked to sew, crochet and quilt. One of her favorite hobbies was watching dirt track racing. She is survived by her husband, Orlen Proffitt of Crossville; mother, Allene Wright of Crossville; sons, David Proffitt and daughter-in-law Sandy, and Kevin Proffitt and daughter-in-law Kim, all of Crossville; granddaughter, Baylee Proffitt; brothers, Barry Wright of Crossville and Brock Wright and his wife, Jennie, all of Crossville; and sisters, Debbie Frady and her husband, Eddie, of Crossville, and Vera Rogers and her husband, Gary, of Crossville. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Wright. Funeral services were held Jan. 15 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Reagan officiated, with burial in Fredonia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Orlen Proffitt, Brock Wright, Andrew Wright, Christopher Marsh, Gary Rogers Jr. and Rodney Wellman. Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
