Oct. 27, 2015 Dorothy E. Galyon of Knoxville, TN, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015. She was 88. A seamstress who made beautiful clothes for her family, she was employed at Jandi’s Classics, Levi’s and Miller’s department stores. She was a Southern Baptist and was loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 54 years, Lester H. Galyon, of Knoxville, and her mother, Verda Collins of Andersonville, TN. Survivors include her children, Lynda Szulc and husband, Robert, of Rockport, IN; Valerie Gargiulo and husband, Rev. Luis, of Hartsville, SC; Laura DeLorenzo and husband, Louie, of Crossville, TN; and Lester W. Galyon and wife, Karen, of Chickamauga, GA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jon Byron and wife, Tawana; Laura Danielle Matthews and husband, Daniel; Rachel Trundle and husband, Jason; Michael and Eric Galyon; Heather Neal and husband, Nick; Joseph and Drew DeLorenzo; and 12 great grandchildren. The family would like to express its appreciation to her dedicated caregivers. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Community Church (at 6706 Central Avenue Pike, Knoxville, TN 37912), The Salvation Army or The Pat Summitt Foundation. Visitation and a service was held Oct. 31, 2015, at Stevens Mortuary with the Rev. Luis Gargiulo officiating. Burial followed at Lynnhurst Cemetery.
