April 4, 1931—March 4, 2015 Donna Braun, 83, of Pleasant Hill, passed away March 4, 2015, just nine days after her husband of 62 years, Ted Braun. She was born April 4, 1931, in Lakewood, OH, the daughter of the late Jack and Dorothy Greig, of Hammond, IN. She graduated in 1953 from Indiana University at Bloomington, with a degree in elementary education and music. Donna worked as a kindergarten teacher in Evansville, IN, and a substitute teacher and dental office manager in New Jersey. In Carbondale, IL, she worked in the Senior Citizen Day Care Center as a secretary for Southern Illinois University, and as teacher and director of the Presbyterian Nursery School from 1974-1981. Donna and Ted moved to the Uplands Retirement Village in Pleasant Hill in 1992. She was an avid birder and a phenomenal gardener, and was delighted to give garden tours of her 100 varieties of daffodils. She was a member of the church choir and the bell choir, and also enjoyed playing cello. Through it all, she was the bedrock of support and partner in the fight for justice with her husband, Ted, wherever they lived. She is survived by her three daughters, Carol Wilson-Braun and her husband, Jeff, and sons, Nathan and Peter, of Watertown, MA; Rebecca Ralston and her husband, Curt, of Independence, OR; and Deb Braun and her spouse, Jan Bodin, of Fridley, MN. She is also survived by her sister, Jackie Kahler, and husband Bill, of Lancaster, TX. Besides her husband, Ted, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Dr. Dick Braun, and Dick's wife, Trudy Braun. A memorial service for both Donna and Ted Braun will be held Aug. 8 at the Pleasant Hill Community Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Donna may be sent to Tennessee Technological University, Department of Music, Donna Braun Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1915, Cookeville, TN 38505.
