Feb. 17, 1953—April 22, 2015 David E. Smith, 62, of Dayton, OH, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015. He was born on Feb. 17, 1953, in Crossville, the son of the late William H. and Mary R. (Davis) Smith. David served his country as a Lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. and served a tour in Okinawa, Japan. Semper fidelis. His quick wit and great memory kept the family entertained. He loved to learn about and research subjects that were unfamiliar to him. David had a love of music like his mother and like his father, and he enjoyed walks and being outdoors. He loved his family very much and although miles separated him from some, David kept scrapbooks and photos on walls and the refrigerator to keep his loved ones close. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; brother, Timothy; and niece, Alyssa. He will be dearly missed by his sisters, nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held for the family at the Dayton National Cemetery. Woodbine-Hickory Chapel, Nashville, TN, was in charge of arrangments.
