Aug. 29, 1946—March 19, 2016 David Henry Smith, of Crossville, passed away March 19, 2016. He was born Aug. 29, 1946, in Buffalo, NY, son of the late William Henry Smith and Myrtle Irene (Smith) Mueter. David attended Lantana Road Baptist Church of Crossville for eight years before being part of a core team to plant a new mission church in Pleasant Hill, Pleasant Hill Baptist Mission. David loved the Lord and was a part of many areas in church: children's church teacher, usher/greeter, van ministry director, custodial work and landscaping. David was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a welder machinist for 10 years in Angola, NY, as well as a manager at a truck stop in Tonopah, AZ. He enjoyed fishing with his friends, crocheting blankets, doing handy work around the house as well as helping others with their projects. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille Smith and Sandra Reagle; grandson, Christian Smith; and great-grandson, Mykel Richard of Crossville. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jane (Richmond) Smith; children, Davalyne (Kevin) Paden, David Jr., Coralina (Mark) Parcel, Walter (Bachara) Smith, Tamara (James) Gilliam, Jeremiah (Sabrina) Smith, and Loretta Shank. Also surviving is his brother, William (Linda) Smith, as well as 27 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Burial service will be at the Old Town Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, TN, on Saturday, March 26, at 11:30 a.m. A celebration of life service will be held at Lantana Road Baptist Church on Saturday, March 26, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Lantana Road Baptist Church in care of Pleasant Hill Baptist Mission, 3270 Lantana Rd., Crossville, TN 38572 Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
