David's Story

Text size

March 5, 1964—March 17, 2015 David Alan Hinkle, 51, of Crossville, passed away suddenly March 17, 2015, at Cumberland Medical Center after an extended period of medical problems. He left his pain behind him to join his Lord and Savior in Heaven. David was born in Knoxville, March 5, 1964, the son of Anna Belle Moore Hinkle and Norman Hinkle. David was known to many in the Crossville area through his employment and volunteer service with the Crossville Fire Department, Cumberland County Ambulance Service, Crossville City Police, Cumberland County Sheriff's Department and Cumberland County E-911. David worked with several local manufacturers, as an auto salesman, and for a private security service. For a short period he was the proprietor of a game room for local students near Cumberland County High School. David was preceded to heaven by his mother in November 2010 and his aunt, Dorothy Moore McCorkle, in 2007. He is survived by his father; brothers, Thomas of Crossville and Douglas and wife, Joyce, of Culpepper, VA; sister, Lisa Carter and husband, Marty, of Crossville; and uncles Charles and wife, Marie, of Munhall, PA, and Kenneth McCorkle of San Diego, CA. He also leaves behind many cousins, nephews and one niece scattered from Pennsylvania to Florida and to the West Coast. David will miss his church family at First Christian Church in Crossville, particularly with fondness for his friends in the choir. Of particular importance to David in the last few years was Etta Kasten, the pastor's wife, who guided him into the Christian way of life and was his earthly spiritual help when he was troubled. David's family is greatly thankful for Etta. Funeral services were held March 22 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Kasten officiated, with burial in Reed Cemetery on Jewett Rd. Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
