Dan Tindall (Lt. Col. U.S. Army, retired), of Crossville, passed away Aug. 11, 2016, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center while battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Dan was born July 20, 1947. He grew up in Forest Hill, TN, graduated from the University of Tennessee, served his country for over 20 years, and started his own consulting business which helped companies do business with the Department of Defense. Dan loved his family, his church, his friends, geneology, traveling the world, golf and Tennessee football. Even in retirement, Dan had daily goals and projects planned. He lived life to the fullest, traveling in Europe four weeks in May and playing golf three days before beginning his treatment to beat his surprising diagnosis of cancer. Dan was a dearly loved man of unquestionable character who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eugenia Tindall and his sister, Anne Tindall Meade.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy; son, Michael Tindall; stepchildren, David Nowak, Stephen (Liane) Nowak, Bethany (Andy) Arbuckle, Ben (Lauri) Sweeney and John (Chelsea) Sweeney; brother, John (Mary) Tindall; and sisters, Nancy (John) Rice and Marcia Atkins. Dan was a loving grandfather to his nine grandchildren: Eli and Ava Nowak, Austin Nowak, Matt, Drew and Nick Sweeney, and Emily, Sarah and Will Arbuckle.
A memorial service was held Aug. 14, 2016, at St. Raphael's Episcopal Church. Memorial gifts may be made to the St. Raphael's Episcopal Church Building Fund, 1038 Sparta Hwy., Crossville, TN 38572 or to a charity of your choice.
