Clara Annette Cooper Grover, 71, of Crossville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Wyndridge Health and Rehab Center in Crossville. She was born Aug. 14, 1945, in Lawrenceburg, TN, daughter of the late Robert Himes and Tommye (Cooper) Himes.
Clara was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed music, reading, arts and crafts, and baking. She was well known for decades for sending neighbors home with pies and cakes. The neighborhood children always knew Mrs. Grover had something fresh waiting for them, be it cookies or cupcakes.
She is survived by her son, George Sloan Grover Jr. (Casey); daughters, Lt. Col. Lisa Ann Grover and M. Allison Brendel (Bevy); grandson, Patrick Sloan Brendel, all of Crossville; and sister, Susie Brown of Hohenwald, TN.
In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George Sloan Grover Sr., and brother, Randy Cooper.
Funeral services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at 1 p.m. Interment in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
