Catherine Louise Flanagan, 81, of Crossville, passed away May 6, 2017. She was born Nov. 24, 1935, in Middlesboro, KY, the daughter of William M. and Georgia J. Hicks Parks.
Catherine was raised in church and was of the Baptist faith. While she held several different jobs in her youth, she always loved being a homemaker. Some of her happiest days were spent on the family farm where she loved raising chickens, tending her garden and working in her flowerbeds. She also enjoyed canning and making jams and apple butter for the homemade breads she made for her family. Amazingly, she also found time to have a successful career selling home interior for many years, sharing her gift of tasteful home decorating with friends and family alike.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Flanagan of Crossville; son, Gary Flanagan (Debbie) of Greenville, TN; daughter, Paula Olive (Tim) of Tuscaloosa, AL; sisters, Barbara Britt of Crossville and Geraldine Sexton of Manchester, MI; grandchildren, Rachael, Amy, Phillip, Carl Lee (Amber), Christina (Michael), Ryan and Adam; and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ancil and Bill Parks; and sisters, Juanita Shepherd, Eva Freeman, Dena Sexton and Faye Scannell.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
