Carroll "Mert" Bashaw, age 79, of Crossville, TN, and formerly of Cabot, VT, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his home. He was born December 5, 1937 in Marshfield, VT, son of the late Henry Bashaw, Sr. & Madine (Shaw) Bashaw.
Mr. Bashaw was a retired truck driver who achieved several recognitions including a One-Million-Mile Safe Driving Award and a truck rodeo trophy during his long career. He was also a retired member of the Vermont National Guard. During his retirement, he enjoyed playing pool with his many friends at the Fair Park Senior Center. He participated in league tournaments and was a member of several winning teams.
He is survived by: Daughters, Diane Bashaw, Cabot, VT and Becky Toland & husband Thomas, Waltham, MA; Grandson, Ryan Toland, Waltham, MA; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bashaw was preceded by: Wife, Beverley Sheperd Bashaw and Brother, Henry Bashaw, Jr.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at 2:00 PM at the Thunderbird Recreation Center of Lake Tansi Village in Crossville.
