May 4, 1923—March 11, 2015 Carrie Mae Kerns, 91, of Crossville, went home to be with her Lord March 11, 2015. She was born May 4, 1923, in Harriman, TN, the daughter of the late Henry Monroe Brown and Eliza (Gibson) Brown. Carrie is survived by her daughter, Phyllis C. Smith and husband, Bill, of Crossville; granddaughters, Beth Cappiello Conklin of Crossville and Jennifer Cappiello Martins and husband, Bobby, of Homestead, FL; and sisters, Sue Swicegood of Oak Ridge and Fannie Lee Brown of Harriman. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Robert Kerns, and infant son. Carrie retired from the textile industry in Harriman and was a faithful member of Mill Baptist Church. Carrie was a loving mother and grandmother, and a true Christian example for her family. She will forever live in the memories and hearts of her family. Funeral services were held March 16 at Bilbrey Funeral Home. Services were officiated by Pastor Ed Neely of Mill Baptist Church, Harriman, and Pastor Mike Kerley of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Crossville. Interment was in Glen Alice Cemetery in Rockwood.
