March 3, 2016 Bertie Green Jolley, 97, of Rockwood, TN, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at The Bridge at Rockwood. Mrs. Jolley was known as “Granny Jolley.” She was a member of Daysville Church of Christ and an avid gardener. She was an outstanding cook who loved to cook for everyone and no one ever left her home hungry. Mrs. Jolley was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Granville and Dovie Steelman Green; husband, Clyde Jolley; grandson, Steve Jolley; brothers, Verden Green, Leonard Green, Dillard Green, Lester Green and Lewis Green; and sisters, Viola Myers, Velma Flynn, Beulah Story and Ruth Felker. Survivors include her son, David Jolley Sr. (Sandra) of Westel, TN; daughters, Loretta (Larry) McKinney of Ten Mile, TN, and Joyce (Larry) Laymon of Rockwood, TN; sister, Bernice Carlisle of Oliver Springs, TN; grandchildren, David Jolley, Jr. (Carol), Robert Jolley (Phyliss), Ronnie McKinney (Connie), Darrell McKinney (Kristine), Debbie Burnum (Johnny), Mike Laymon (Barbara), Jeffrey Laymon (Jeanine) and Greg Laymon (Jamie); numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and many friends in the Rockwood and Roane County communities. The family received friends on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Evans Mortuary. A graveside service followed at Roane Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Josh Head officiating. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Bertie Jolley.
