Albert "Bucky"'s Story
Albert Gregory "Bucky" Hatfield, 74, of Lufkin, TX, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, May 29, 2017. Mr. Hatfield was born April 26, 1943, in Seth, WV, to Forrest Charles Hatfield and Lucille (Swafford) Hatfield.
Bucky was loved by everyone who knew him and could always make his family and friends laugh. He was a veteran and Purple Heart recipient of the U.S. Marine Corp., having proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Working Farriers Association (BWFA) and was the first inductee into the BWFA Hall of Fame in 1992. He was a world class educator in equine science and owned both the Tennessee State Blacksmith & Farriers School in Bloomington Springs, TN, and the Texas State Farriers School in Goodrich, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Nellie Hatfield and Lucille and Luther Clark; brother, Larry Hatfield; sister, Marilyn Clark Ware; and brothers-in-law, John Bergwitz and Edward Strevel.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carla A. Hatfield of Lufkin, TX; daughter, Delores "DeeDee" Hatfield Jeffrey of Cleveland, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Travis Norris of Goodrich, TX; son, Jason Sones of Hutto, TX; grandchildren, Felicia and Gregory Brickman, Shawna and Joshua Ethridge, Destiny Jeffrey, Bryce and Owen Norris, and Kade Lopez; sisters, Brenda Hatfield Bergwitz and late husband John of Evansville, IN, and Linda Hatfield Strevel and late husband Edward of Crossville; brothers, Forrest Hatfield Jr. and wife Terri of Spring, TX, Alan, David and Rickey Hatfield of Ripley, WV, Kevin Hatfield of Parkersburg, WV, Robert Clark and wife Nola, of Crossville, Freeman Clark of Crossville, Henry Clark and wife Joyce of Mt. Morris, PA, and Willie Clark and wife Elaine, of Alabama; special caregiver and niece, Mary Christenson of Milwaukie, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends.
Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Harmony Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel, with graveside services immediately following at the Crossville City Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Myron McLean, Garrett Maloney, Michael LaShomb, Mike Williams, Travis Norris, John Bergwitz and honorary pallbearer Brenda Hatfield Bergwitz.
