William Arthur Stanley, 83, of Fairfield Glade, TN, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville after a long illness.
He was born Dec. 9, 1933, in Romulus, MI, son of the late Clarence Leon Stanley and Anna (Rivis) Stanley. He graduated from Tri-State University with a degree in electrical engineering. Bill was employed by Bendix Aerospace and was involved in the design of instruments for the Apollo Moon project. Later he worked as an electrical engineer for the Ford Motor Company. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry (Quackenbush) Stanley, Fairfield Glade, TN; children, Richard (Diane) Stanley, Kim (Alan) Smith, Karen (James) Kaminski, Ronald (Cheryl) Stanley and Robert (Kelly) Stanley; and sister, Claire Elaine Stanley. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Muelder; and brother, John Stanley.
Per his wishes there will be no memorial service. There will be a family celebration of life later this summer in Michigan.
