William "Bill" R. Fuchs Sr., 93, of Fairfield Glade, TN, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville.
He was born April 6, 1924, in Pabianice, Poland, son of the late Friedrich and Friedricha (Ritter) Fuchs. Bill previously worked as a mechanical engineer, and then since 1990, he had played an integral role in Wagshals' in Washington, DC development, which was known as the delicatessen to the presidents from Truman to Ford, earning the nickname "The President's Deli." Bill was also a member of the German Club and also a member of the Shepherd Hills Lutheran Church. He will be missed by all of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Irmgard Fuchs, Fairfield Glade, TN; sons, William W. Fuchs Jr. of DC, Ralph Fuchs of Michigan and Michael Fuchs of Alabama; daughter, Silvia Alexander-Rossell, Fairfield Glade, TN; and sister, Alice Fuchs, Berlin, Germany.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his daughters, Ingrid Fuchs and Rene Fuchs; brothers, Otto Fuchs, Alex Fuchs and Alfred Fuchs; and sister, Martha Fuchs.
Memorial services were held at Good Samaritan Society in Fairfield Glade on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Paul Wiegert officiating.
