William Jackson Akins Sr., "Jack," of Crossville, formerly of Jasper, AL, passed away on Sept. 19, 2017, from natural causes. He was born on July 30, 1937, to Perry Akins Sr. and Eron McCullers Akins.
Jack was a long time member of the Masons' Lodge in Jasper, AL, and McHenry, IL. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, Dale Earnhardt and Alabama football. Roll Tide.
He is survived by his children, Steve Gilpin (Laura), Scott Akins (Ginger), Cyndi Livesay (Mike) and William J. Akins Jr.; grandchildren, Andrew Cannon, Scott Cannon, Cyndy Davis, Denis Gilpin, Samantha Weaver, Jacob Simmons, Justin Simmons, Todd Burton, Lane Burton, Ty Burton and Mitchell Wilson; brothers, Perry (Betty), Cole (Gail), J.C. (Sarah) and Sam; sister, Shanda Daniel (Geron); and 16 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy of McHenry; daughter, Jacqueline Akins; sister, Joilea Gleaner; brother, Don Akins; and nephew, Sgt. Kevin Akins.
A service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Boldo First Baptist Church in Jasper, AL.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
