Wendell "Fred" Roehlig, 80, of Crossville, passed away June 19, 2017. He was born July 13, 1936, in Hebron, OH, the son of Peter and Esther Hoskinson Roehlig. He was retired after 41 years in the insurance industry where he worked as a district manager.
After his retirement, he and his wife, Nancy, moved to Crossville and made a home in the Lake Tansi community. He always said that he was looking for his heaven on earth when he retired and he felt blessed that he found it here in Crossville. He was always so thankful to the all the kind and generous citizens of this town for the warm welcome and kindness shown to them since their move here. It was important to him that his gratitude was made known to each and everyone in this county for giving him such pleasure in calling Crossville his home. He was very involved in his community where he served for 11 years on the Lake Tansi Welcoming Committee, spent 16 years with the Lake Tansi Exchange Club and was also a member of the Lake Tansi Community Association.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Roehlig of Crossville; sons, Tom Roehlig and his wife Paula and David Roehlig and his wife Debbie, all of Florida; stepchildren, Lora Goodnight and her husband Shane and Mark Watson and his wife Carrie, all of Ohio; sister, Mary Katherine White of Ohio; and grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Krista, Brady and Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
No services are planned at this time. Donations may be made to the Lake Tansi Exchange Club or Hospice of Cumberland County.
