Troy Cantrell Hammons, 100, of Crossville, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville.
He was born May 29, 1917, in Carthage, TN, son of the late Edd T. Hammons and Serena Oella (Matheney) Hammons. Troy worked as a machinist in the manufacturing field and was a member of Central Baptist Church. He will be missed by his beloved family.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Worley Hammons, Crossville; daughters, Jane (Charles) Tollett of Crossville and Linda Walker of North Carolina; step-sons, John (Linda) Fritts of Georgia, Charlie (Olivia) Fritts of Crossville, Roger (Debra) Worley of Crossville and Roy Worley of Crossville; step-daughters, Martha (Ronnie) Norrod and Nellie (Ray) Singer of Crossville; brother, L.C. Hammons, Fayetteville, TN; and sisters, Edna Randolph of Illinois and Margaret Roberts of Georgia. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Troy was preceded in death by his second wife, Irene Mynatt Fritts Hammons; first wife, Estelle Fritz Hammons; daughter, Dale Workman; son, Troy C. Hammons II; grandson, Matthew Worley; granddaughter, Kellye Jane Tollett; brothers, Ernest Hammons, Tim Hammons, Beecher Hammons and Albert Hammons; and sisters, Elvena Ashburn and Mary Roberson.
Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Roland Smith officiating. Interment in Crossville City Cemetery.
