Sammy Houston Jr., 71, of Crossville, passed away June 1, 2017. He was born June 29, 1945, in Cumberland County, TN, the son of Wilburn L. and Helen Bryant Houston. He worked many years as a lieutenant with the Crossville Police Dept. and was also a United States Air Force veteran where he served as a M.P.
He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna Houston of Crossville; son, Shane Houston and his wife Melinda of Cookeville, TN; daughter, Monica Watson and her husband Tony of Crossville; brothers, Roscoe Houston and his wife Mary Lou of Sparta, TN, and Jim Houston and his wife Darlene of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Jeanette Moore and her husband Sammy of Crossville, Lila Keck of Crossville and Cathy Croslin and her husband David of Cookeville, TN; grandchildren, Darren Houston, Justin Houston, Chandler Houston, Kyle Houston and Sammy Watson; and special friends, Carol and the late Judd Parkinson and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Jesse Keck.
Memorial services were held Monday, June 5, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Hood Funeral Home.
