Rufus Downs, 73, born Oct. 8, 1944, in Crossville, passed away on Feb. 21, 2018.
Rufus was a skilled diesel mechanic and a long time employee of Flowers Bakery. He was also a member of Stevens Gap Church of Christ. Rufus was a beloved husband, father and friend to everyone he met.
Rufus is survived by his wife, Sharon Wyatt Downs of Crossville; daughter, Tonya Downs of Crossville; grandson, Corey Jury and wife Ariel of Monterey; sister, Anna Mae Guy of Crossville; brothers, Carl Downs and wife Amy of Kentucky and Wayne Price of Crossville; sisters, Fiddle Downs and Barbara Downs, both of Crossville and Jenny McElroy of Wisconsin; nephew, Isaac Roysdon of Crossville; and many beloved nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many more friends and co-workers.
Rufus was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Wayne "Tony" Downs; father, Emory Thomas Downs; mother, Violet Mae Bilbrey Downs; brothers, William Downs, Rubell Downs, and Everett Downs; and sister-in-law, Mary Alma Downs.
Interment will be at a later date at Hale's Chapel.
