Roger Winston Graham went to be with Jesus on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, around 10 a.m. Roger was born on May 15, 1938, to Leland Bascom Graham and Helen Jane (Hendry) Graham in Kalamazoo, MI.
Soon after his birth, Roger, his parents and older brother, Jim, moved to Florida where Roger grew up and attended school. After graduation from high school, Roger got a degree in forestry and worked as a forester before joining the Marine Corps. After serving his country, he returned to college for a degree in optometry. He operated his own optometry office in Clear Water, FL, for 25 years.
At retirement, he and his wife, Sandy, moved first to Maine for a few years and then to Fairfield Glade in 2006. Sandy passed away in 2007 after a short battle with cancer. Roger was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
Roger's failing health led him to move into the Fairfield Glade Assisted Living facility at 637 Woodgate Dr. where he has lived for the past four years.
Roger leaves behind a son and two daughters, William Christopher (Kelly) Graham, Alicia (Duane) Walker and Heather Graham; three grandchildren, Lehren, Brooke and Cameron Walker; and friend and caregiver, Sharon.
Memorial plans have not been finalized, but Roger is being cremated and his remains taken to Georgia. Roger loved animals and regularly donated to their care. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in his name to the Finding FURever Homes Pet Rescue, 8780 Peavine Rd., Crab Orchard, TN 37723.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
