Aug. 18, 2015 Robert Etheridge “Jack” Irvin Jr., 88, passed away Aug. 18, 2015. Jana Irvin was his wife and they shared 57 years of marriage together. Born in Sumter, SC, he was the son of Robert Etheridge “Jack” Irvin Sr. and Lennie Elwood Thornley Irvin. He graduated from Vanderbilt Law School. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his performances on Broadway, Presidential Augural Balls, the Cumberland County Playhouse, and TV specials. Jack was a scholar, a philosopher, a prankster, a laugher, a jokester, a day brightener, a truth teller, a mentor, a storyteller, a crusader, a glorious singer, a faithful husband, and a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his spouse, Jana Irvin; children, Keel and Lace; grandchildren, Tara, Brooke, Brittani, Blake, Keela, Colt, Megan, Forest and Raina; and great-grandchildren, Gage, Jade, Elizabeth and Jaxon. A memorial service was held Aug. 21 at Central Baptist Church in Crossville. Memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland County Playhouse. Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
