Rev. Robert Lewis Bryant, 78, of Crossville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Standing Stone Care and Rehab Center in Monterey, TN.
He was born Nov. 7, 1939, in Nolan, WV, son of the late William Bryant and Lassie (Hale) Bryant.
After being called to preach in the fall of 1956, Rev. Bryant was ordained to preach on Sept. 8, 1969. He pastored several churches through the years which included Piqua Free Will Baptist Church in Piqua, OH; Elm Tree FBC in Saint Paris, OH; Bradford FBC in Bradford, OH; McMinnville First FWB in McMinnville, TN; and Newark FBC in Newark, OH. After he retired, Rev. Bryant became a member of Crossville First Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Traci (Dave) Adkins of Louisville, KY, Kevin (Anna) Bryant of Crossville, and LeEllen Bryant of California; grandchildren, Andrew Bryant, Philip Bryant and Elizabeth Adkins; sister, Barbara (Tom) Chaffin, Grove City, OH; and brothers, Wallace (Rachel) Bryant of Pataskala, OH, and Rev. Roy Bryant of Inez, KY.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Bryant was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sue (Carter) Bryant; brothers, Rev. John Bryant, Haskel Bryant, William Bryant, Benny Jack Bryant and Harold Bryant; and sister, Sylvia Jean Bryant, Maude Bryant and Mary Helen James.
Funeral services will be held at First Free Will Baptist Church on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Mike McCoy officiating. Interment in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
