Phyllis Virginia Swartzlander (née McDaniel) of Crossville, born Feb. 5, 1942, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at the age of 75.
Phyllis had a successful career as an accounting manager and had a lifelong love of reading. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her husband and friends exploring Tennessee, worshipping at church and working in her garden. She was strong and independent and ensured her children were raised with these qualities.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Joseph E. Swartzlander II; children, Michael T. Logan, Joseph E. Swartzlander III, Heather K. Swartzlander, Kevin T. Swartzlander, Monica J. Swartzlander; and two daughters-in-law, Michelle Swartzlander and Kylara Swartzlander. She is also survived by her brothers, A.R. McDaniel, David Winkler and Charles Winkler.
Phyllis was proceeded in death by her mother, Olivia M. Inman; father, Ray A. McDaniel; and stepfather, Eddie Spurgeon.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Crossville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
