Melinda's Story

Melinda Ann Mulvaney, 70, of Fairfield Glade, passed away at home on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016.
She was born April 13, 1946, in Du Quoin, IL, daughter of the late George and Marie (Sutter) Roegler.
Melinda worked for 35 years as a special education teacher in the state of Illinois, teaching at Central City Schools, Huddleston Childrens Home in Centralia, and Mt. Vernon school district. She retired from teaching in 2005. She lived in Centralia for 40 years before moving permanently to Crossville. A pioneer in special education in the late 1960s in southern Illinois, she touched the lives of thousands of students, parents, staff and colleagues.
Melinda was of the Protestant faith and regularly attended services at Fairfield Glade Community Church. Melinda volunteered at many organizations including Tennessee Master Gardeners, Crossville Public Library, Fairfield Glade Ladies Club, United Methodist Church Crafters and Cumberland County Playhouse. She enjoyed loving her two dogs Millie and Hildie, reading, gardening, going to rummage sales, decorating, spending time with her gang, and traveling to Georgia to visit with her daughter, her son-in-law and grandson. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, giving heart and steely spirit. Melinda will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Mulvaney, Fairfield Glade; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Mulvaney and Joe Keller, Roswell, GA; grandson, Willem Keller, Roswell, GA; and brother, George Roegler of California.
In addition to her parents, Melinda was preceded in death by her brother, Gregory Roegler.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at Fairfield Glade Community Church at 11 a.m.
Non-plant, flower memorials may be sent Fairfield Glade Community Church, or, in lieu of flowers, the family is asking that money donations be made in memoriam to the Fairfield Glade Community Church or the American Heart Association.
