Max Eugene Janow Sr., 85, of Crossville, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville.
He was born Jan. 31, 1932, in Spring City, TN. His parents are the late James Janow Jr. and Annie (Jolley) Janow, who were original Homesteaders in Cumberland County.
Max is a retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class and served for 22 years. He served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a life member of the VFW Post 5025. He was also a member of Woodlawn Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Janow, Crossville; sons, Max (Veronica) Janow Jr., Houston, TX, Joey (Angie) Janow, Crossville, Thomas James Byers, North Carolina, and Thomas Blake Janow, Crossville; daughter, Patty Baildon, Harriman, TN; stepchildren, Ray Young, Darlene Miller and Rosana Stults, all of Crossville; grandchildren, Heather Robbins, Courtney Rabideau, Chris Janow, B.K. Janow, Tyler Janow, Trevor Janow, Steven Houston, Jonathan Miller, Ricky Young, Shane Lewis, Josh Stults, Brittany Stults, Zach Stults, Caleb Baildon, Damon Baildon, Mercedes Baildon, Tatiana Baildon and Joey Quatman; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Sue Taylor, Crossville.
In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Sandra Young; and granddaughter, Leslie Janow.
Funeral services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Ronald Dyer officiating. Interment will be at Green Acres Memory Gardens.
