Mattie Jo Broughton, age 93, formerly of Crossville, TN, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2018, at Palm Bay Community Hospital in Palm Bay, FL.
She was born May 12, 1924, in Chattanooga, TN, daughter of the late Charles Joseph Craig and John Ann (Lepley) Craig.
Jo was a nurse, homemaker, and foster parent. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Crossville. She had been an active member of the Exchange Club, the Senior Citizens Center South, District Girl Scout Leader, Y Teens Leader, teacher in the Women's Group in her church and was involved in the Lake Tansi Property Owners Association. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Ann (Neil) Smith of Southport, England, Judith Ellen (Robert) Llewellyn of Palm Bay, FL, Bethany Susan (Roger -deceased) McDaniel of Cleveland, TN, and Mary Ruth (James) Kistler of Crossville. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Gene" Eugene Broughton; sisters, Melba Sue Smith and Marilyn Lucille Hall; brothers, Bennett Warner Craig and William Maurice Craig; and granddaughter, Margaret Ellen Sault.
A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Richard Adair officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Broughton requested that donations be made to Hospice of Cumberland County, 30 East Adams St., Crossville, TN 38555.
