Julia's Story

Julia Clare Nix, 81, was born on June 13, 1935, to Annis and Julia Groves in Tornado, WV, and passed away on Sept. 17, 2016, in Crossville. Julia spent most of her life in Florida later living in Idaho before coming to live with her daughter in Crossville. She was an artist, painter, seamstress and homemaker. Julia also worked at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans for a time. After raising her children, she traveled extensively, even kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland, but her most favorite place of all was on the beach. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Margo Lynne Brown of Crossville and Melissa Ann Black of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Dean, Ashley and Tyler Black; great grandchildren, Stormy Dean Borgialli, Sunny Wayne Day of Crossville, Jesse Sams, Kennedy Black, and her special companion Brittany, who was her favorite. Also, her special friend, Emma Campbell.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Annis and Julia Groves; husband, Bill Nix; brother, William Jennings Cox; and sisters, Lillian Matthews and Dorothy King Russell.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 4 to 5 p.m. with a service to follow. She will be laid to rest in the Crossville City Cemetery.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
