Juanita Smith Craig, 88, of Smithville, TN, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at NHC Healthcare of Sparta. She was born in Norwood, OH, to Robert Smith and Pauline (Sousley) Smith.
Her mother passed away during childbirth so Juanita found many mothers throughout her life, and mothered many others as well. Her first real mother was her mother-in-law, Lucy Craig. Juanita was married to the late Richard Walter "R.W." Craig, and her four children stand as a testament to her strengths as a mother. She found many mothers as the teacher of a Sunday school class of older women. She remained deeply committed to God and family throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Eva Whitt (Durham, NC), Richard Lee (Debbie Kelly) Craig (Myrtle Beach, SC), Paula Ann (David) Head (Bowling Green, KY) and Rebecca Lynn (John) Purdue, Crossville; grandchildren, Jon Slone, Elizabeth (Jimmy) Peden, David (Janet) Craig, Richard (Julia) Purdue, Samantha (Eric) Zarycki and Andrew Head; great-grandchildren, Abigail Peden, Caroline Rose Peden and Mackenzie Slone.
Memorial services were held at Tansi Community Church on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Bro. David Head officiating. Interment will be held Friday, March 24, 2017, at 1 p.m. in Midway Cemetery, located in Midway, KY.
