Johnnie "John" Parker, 91, passed away Jan. 25, 2017, in Naples, FL. He was born in Crossville on Aug. 28, 1925, the fourth child of H. Clay and Edna (Myers) Parker, long time residents of Crossville.
John was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. After service he graduated from Sinclair College in Dayton, OH. He had a 37-year career in logistics with the U.S. Air Force and retired as chief of the Air Force's Cataloging and Standardization Division in Battle Creek, MI.
John was preceded in death by his brother, William and wife Jo Mae; and sisters Anna Lee Agee and husband Gavin and Mary Yaney and husband Oliver.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bertha (Shroyer) of 69 years. Sons, Dr. John Parker and wife Christine, James Parker and wife Shawn, and Joseph Parker and wife Jennie. James is the North American director of Market Sell for Dow AgroSciences. Joseph is the director of athletics for Colorado State University. Daughters, Jill Nesbitt and husband Dr. Steven Nesbitt and Janis Firth and husband Dr. Mark Firth. Sisters, Frances Parker and Linda Brown and husband Brooks Brown. Grandchildren, Joshua Parker and wife Sarah, Katie Vernon and husband Jesse, Stephanie Prebish and husband Richard, Jessica Vasquez and husband Eddie, Lindsay Firth, Kellee McAdams and husband Shane, David Firth, Matthew Parker, Brett Elizabeth Parker, Hope Chilton and husband Hudson, Emma Parker and Will Parker; four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Internment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Michigan.
