John Deo Young was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Battle Creek, MI, to John W. and Lottie (Stull) and returned to his heavenly home on March 18, 2016.
As a boy he lived in Battle Creek and on the family farm near Burr Oak, MI. John graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1942. He graduated from Henry Ford Trade School, where he met Henry Ford, and later attended Western Michigan University. John joined the U.S Navy and served aboard the USS Somers DD381 during WWII in the North Atlantic, the Mediterranean Sea and during D-Day. John worked for Clark Equipment as an engineer and manager and as a regional executive, managing several Clark dealerships at the end of his career. After raising their son in Battle Creek, John and Neta lived in several states over many years, finally settling in Crossville, TN. John greatly enjoyed woodworking and was well known for his fine craftsmanship. John and Neta were active members of Ascension Lutheran Church in Crossville and were devoted to their family.
