Janice Sue Farmer

December 17, 1937 - September 26, 2018

Janice Sue Collins Farmer went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018. She was laid to rest at Green Acres Cemetery in Crossville Oct. 1.
Born on Dec. 17, 1937, to Harold and Martha (Chipman) Collins, she moved to Dayton, OH, where she married the love of her life, her soulmate, Laverne A. Farmer on Aug. 31, 1956. Together they worked hand in hand building a beautiful partnership and life. Jan worked as secretary to the president of Georgetown College, KY. After relocating to Miami, FL, she served as billing director for a prestigious law firm. Her most loved career was 19 years at Samford University in the Institutional Research Department.
She enjoyed oil painting, playing the piano and organ, and working on projects around her home and yard. Recently, you could find her watching Hallmark movies, solving the most difficult sudoku puzzles or spoiling her mini schnauzer, Heidi. She also made studying scripture a devoted daily event as well.
Survivors include her daughters, Michele Haralson (Ronny, deceased) and Susan Drew (Kenneth); brother, Alan Collins (Connie); sister-in-law, Joyce Collins; grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, Ashley, Alyson and Justin. She had five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Collins; and her beloved husband, Laverne.
Donations can be made to the Laverne and Janice Farmer Endowed Scholarship at www.Samford.edu/giving.
Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
